How to Resize your Image with Canva (Free Version)

Why Image Resizing is Important?

Want your website to look more polished and professional? The images you use play a key role in creating a visually appealing experience. However, if your images are too large or too small, they can distort your layout, slow down your site, and appear out of place, especially for users browsing on mobile devices.

That’s why it’s important to ensure your images are correctly sized and optimised for your website.

Are you unsure if your images are the right size for your website? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! We’ll show you how to determine your image size in just a few minutes without any design experience.

With our quick and easy guide, we will walk you through image resizing with the free design tool, Canva.

Step 9: Before Downloading, Name Your File and Ensure Dashes Have Been Used

Name your image. All images must be named in lowercase and with dashes for the web.

Dashes (-) are URL-safe and are favoured by Google for SEO purposes. When naming your images it is important to note that Google prefers descriptive, hyphen-separated keywords. For example, digital-pie-office.jpg is better than IMG1234.JPG.

Step 10: Save Your Image in JPEG Format, and Click ‘Download'

Make sure your file type is selected as JPG. Then click ‘Download’.
