Want your website to look more polished and professional? The images you use play a key role in creating a visually appealing experience. However, if your images are too large or too small, they can distort your layout, slow down your site, and appear out of place, especially for users browsing on mobile devices.
That’s why it’s important to ensure your images are correctly sized and optimised for your website.
Are you unsure if your images are the right size for your website? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! We’ll show you how to determine your image size in just a few minutes without any design experience.
With our quick and easy guide, we will walk you through image resizing with the free design tool, Canva.
If you want your images looking perfect for your website, you have come to the right place. This blog will give you a step-by-step guide on how to resize your images in Canva for free.
Login to canva.com. If you don’t have an account, sign up. This platform is free, unless you are after the premium version.
To create a new project click create in the top left hand corner.
Once clicked on, this screen will now appear. Now, click on custom size in the bottom left-hand corner.
You will now be brought to this page. On the left hand side, click “uploads”.
Select the image that you want to use.
Play around and size the image until it looks how you want it to.
Edits are now confirmed. To export your image, click ‘File’ in the top left corner, and then click ‘Export.’
The pop up on the right hand side will now show. Click download.
Name your image. All images must be named in lowercase and with dashes for the web.
Dashes (-) are URL-safe and are favoured by Google for SEO purposes. When naming your images it is important to note that Google prefers descriptive, hyphen-separated keywords. For example, digital-pie-office.jpg is better than IMG1234.JPG.
Make sure your file type is selected as JPG. Then click ‘Download’.
Resizing your images doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive. With a free design tool, like Canva, you’ll be able to resize your images with ease.
