How To Resize My Image Using a Paid Platform

Step 1: Go to Adobe Photoshop and Login

Log In To Adobe Photoshop (if you have an account). You will then be brought to the main page. Once here, click the new file in the top left corner.

Step 2: Click on 'New File' and Change to New Size

Once you click on a new file, this pop-up will appear. On the right-hand side, you can change the size of the image. Enter your image size in the width and height boxes, e.g., 600 x 600. For any website image, the resolution must always be 72 Pixels/Inch.

Step 3: Add your Image and Click ‘Embedded’

You will be brought to this page with your sized image box. To add your image, click file in the top left-hand corner. The pop-up on the right will then be displayed. Now click ‘Place embedded.’ Please note that the image must be saved to your desktop to be able to place it.

Click ‘Place Embedded’ as shown below.

Step 4: Find the Image You Want to Resize and Click ‘Place’

Click the image you want to resize and then click ‘place’.

Step 5: Expand Image to Find the New Size

Your image has now been placed. Select the link button as shown below. To evenly expand the image, hold the Alt button on your keyboard and pull one of the corners. The image will expand to one size. If Alt is not held, the image will expand from the size it has been pulled from. Click on the image to move it around and find the correct placement.

Step 6: Click the Tick to Confirm Edits

Now that you have sized your image and the placement. Click the tick at the top middle of the page. This will confirm your edits.

Step 7: To Export, Click the Top Left Corner

Edits are now confirmed. To export your image, click ‘File’ in the top left corner, and then click ‘Export.’

Step 8: Click ‘Save For Web (Legacy)’

You will be brought to this pop-up. Now click “Save for Web (Legacy).”

Step 9: Save Your Image in JPEG Format, and Set the Quality to 60

You will be brought to this pop-up. Ensure your image is a JPEG and the quality is 60. Now, ‘click save.’

Step 10: Name Your File Using Dashes and Hyphen-Separated Keywords

Name your image. All images must be named in lowercase and with dashes for the web.

Dashes (-) are URL-safe and are favoured by Google for SEO purposes. Google rewards websites that use descriptive, hyphen-separated keywords such as digital-pie-office.jpg in comparison to IMG1234.JPG.

Step 11: Click ‘Save’ and the Image Is Ready to Be Uploaded

The Image has been renamed as seen below. Now, ‘click save’. This image can now be used to upload to your website as displayed above.
